Reuben Multilal, known to his fans as Rhexis, is a talented producing artist hailing from Handsworth, Birmingham. In September 2022, Rhexis released his debut single, "Reservoir" where he has racked up 20K streams on Spotify alone. This track serves as a preview of what's to come from his upcoming debut instrumental beat tape, "Craythorne." With this release, Rhexis invites listeners to go on a musical journey about his life, family and upbringing; a testament to his own artistic evolution.
One of the standout moments in Rhexis' career was the release of "8:46,'' a project in which he produced alongside the legendary Tom Ford for Tarju Le’Sano. The accompanying video, directed by the fast-rising videographer Ellie Howard, premiered at the Birmingham Millenium Point alongside other outstanding work from SANITY. Rhexis also had the privilege of performing at the renowned Symphony Hall as part of the "50 Years of Hip Hop" celebration, sharing the stage with Tarju Le’Sano in 2023.
Rhexis has established fruitful collaborations with a range of talented artists, including Rere Demarae, Shenai, Tarju Le’Sano, and Creezon where he draws inspiration from some of the most iconic figures in the world of music production. Influenced by luminaries such as J Dilla, 9th Wonder, Madlib, and Kanye West, he studied their production techniques, from the selection of drum hits to the types of samples they used, their chopping methods, and their overall boom bap aesthetic. Producing on his favourite piece of hardware, the Maschine MK2 he creates hip hop, rap, Alternative R&B and afro-fusion.
He is an integral part of the 93:00 Collective, known for their niche events, creative direction, and content curation. As a key member of 93:00, Rhexis and the collective served as official partners for the Birmingham Festival 23, where they presented their own show, "2093." This two-hour entertainment featured Rhexis as the headline producer and DJ. He holds a resident DJ spot at The CookBook networking event, a platform that has hosted esteemed panellists such as SBK, Shikayla Nadine, BE83, and many more.
As Rhexis continues to hone his craft and push the boundaries of musical expression, there's no doubt that he will leave a lasting impression both commercially and culturally for Hip Hop. His dedication, passion, and commitment to artistic growth make him a rising star to watch in the ever-evolving landscape of producing artists.
